Five teams proceed on to next phase in Jurong Lake District RFP exercise

FIVE teams have been shortlisted for their proposals for the Jurong Lake District Request for Proposal (RFP) exercise that is expected to appoint one of them as consultant by January next year.

Chosen out of 35 teams which submitted proposals for the RFP exercise, the five will now proceed on to stage two of the exercise, said the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in a release on Tuesday.

They will spend 10 weeks to develop and submit their conceptual master plan and proposals for Jurong Lake District, due end-2016.

Transport connectivity, district-level infrastructure such as a cooling system, underground spaces, a distinctive identity for Jurong Lake District, and how it can be integrated with nearby areas are some of the ideas that need to be fleshed out in the second phase.

The five teams consist of tie-ups between local and international firms with good track record in the fields of master planning, urban design, transport planning, architecture, infrastructure planning, landscape design, environmental sustainability and engineering, and urban logistics.

"The five teams scored the highest for their track record and quality of their submitted statement of planning and design intent and approach," said the release.

An evaluation panel comprising senior representatives and practitioners from government agencies, academia and industry will be convened to assess the five proposals and select one of the teams as the appointed consultant by January 2017.

Following that, the appointed consultant will work with the URA and relevant agencies to draw up a detailed master plan proposal for Jurong Lake District. There will be an exhibition of the proposal in the second quarter of 2017 to gather public feedback.

The appointed consultant will then work with the URA and relevant agencies to consider the feedback from all stakeholders and refine the plans, before submitting final detailed proposals for Jurong Lake District.
