GE2015: PAP wins Pasir-Ris Punggol GRC
[SINGAPORE] People's Action Party (PAP) has clinched 72.89 per cent of the votes for Pasir Ris-Punggol Group Representation Constituency, against a 27.11 per cent share for the opposing Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA).
The PAP's win is an improvement from the 64.79 per cent of the votes it garnered in the six-member GRC in the 2011 election, against the SDA's 35.21 per cent.
In the latest election, a total of 171,529 valid votes were cast, of which 125,021 went to PAP.
The defending team from PAP was led by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean; his team members are: Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck; union leader Zainal Sapari; senior medical consultant Janil Puthucheary; former defence force chief Ng Chee Meng; and Sun Xueling, an investment director at Temasek Holdings.
The SDA team was led by Desmond Lim, an engineer in a telecommunications firm; his team members are Harminder Pal Singh, CEO of a coaching company; filmmaker Arthero Lim; sales director Ong Teik Seng; quality assurance manager Wong Way Weng; and PKMS president Abu Mohamed.
