HK tops poll to be the world's most competitive economy in 2017

The territory edges out Switzerland and Singapore to take the first place out of 63 economies in the annual rankings

HONG KONG has topped the annual International Institute for Management Development (IMD) rankings as the world's most competitive economy amid concerns that the city is losing its edge to the mainland and regional rivals.

According to the Swiss business school report released on Wednesday, Hong Kong pipped Switzerland and Singapore to take the top spot out of 63 economies judged on four indicators: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency and infrastructure.
