IDA launches Data-as-a-Service pilot
THE Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has launched a Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) pilot to address the challenge of making the most of datasets in the private sector.
Data providers from all industries can take part in the pilot to "increase the visibility of their datasets and reach out to new customers", IDA said on Tuesday.
To this end, IDA will hold workshops and data challenges to raise awareness of the DaaS platform.
To kickstart the pilot, IDA has signed a memorandum of intent with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide cloud computing services to the first 25 data providers who sign up for the pilot through AWS. The latter will offer usage credits worth US$3,000 to each of the 25 participants in hosting their dataset registries or their datasets.
These credits are available for redemption over a period of 12 months. AWS will also run up to four technical workshops and two business-mentoring workshops annually for data providers.
