Iswaran to lead Singapore business delegation to Gujarat summit

SINGAPORE will be taking part as a partner country for the first time at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in the western Indian state on Monday.
S Iswaran, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry, will lead a business delegation to the summit, comprising about 70 people from 40 companies. These firms are from the urban solutions, construction, logistics and IT sectors.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Friday, Mr Iswaran will speak at the summit's opening ceremony and also visit the Singapore Pavilion. The pavilion, organised by International Enterprise Singapore, will feature 20 Singapore companies showcasing their capabilities in sectors such as manufacturing, energy and urban solutions.
While in Ahmedabad, the largest city of Gujarat, Mr Iswaran will call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.
Mr Iswaran's visit to Gujarat is part of a four-day India trip that begins on Saturday and also includes a stop in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad.
