Japan consumer prices down 0.3% in April

[TOKYO] Japan's core consumer prices fell 0.3 per cent in April on-year, the government said on Friday, remaining way below the Bank of Japan's 2.0 per cent target.
The core consumer price index reading released by the Internal Affairs Ministry, was slightly better than a Bloomberg forecast of a 0.4 per cent fall. CPI, which excludes volatile fresh food prices, was also at minus 0.3 per cent in March.
