Japan Sept exports rise 14.1% year-on-year: MOF

[TOKYO] Japan's exports rose 14.1 per cent in September from a year earlier, Ministry of Finance data showed on Thursday, slowing from an 18.1 per cent rise in the previous month in a sign of a temporary slowdown in overseas demand.

The result compared with a 14.9 per cent increase expected by economists in a Reuters poll.

Imports rose 12.0 per cent in the year to September, versus the median estimate of a 15.0 per cent increase.

The trade balance came to a surplus of 670.2 billion yen (S$8 billion), versus the median estimate of a 559.8 billion yen surplus.
