[TOKYO] Japan's Justice Minister Mitsuhide Iwaki visited a Tokyo war shrine on Saturday as part of a three-day spring festival which began on Thursday, Kyodo News reported, citing the minister.

Mr Iwaki's visit comes a day after Internal Affairs Minister Sanae Takaichi paid homage at the Yasukuni shrine, according to the report. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made an offering on April 21, the report said.

The shrine commemorates Japan's war dead, including leaders convicted as Class A war criminals. Past visits by the nation's leaders have triggered protests from China and South Korea.
