Jobs mismatch a pressing issue for PMETs

MOM report for Sept 2016 shows white collar openings taking up larger share of overall vacancies

A NOTICEABLE structural shift is underway in Singapore's jobs market, as employers indicated strong demand for white-collar workers in September last year, even as the number of job openings fell to a multi-year low, according to a report on job vacancies released by a Ministry of Manpower (MOM) unit on Tuesday.

This has led to economists to call for more attention from policymakers on the increasingly pressing issue of a mismatch in Singapore's labour market.
