IN A move that may potentially impact Singapore, Malaysia is planning a massive port-city project off Port Klang, Selangor to capture the anticipated rise in container cargo from China's One Belt, One Road initiative.
Putrajaya is looking into a proposal by the Port Klang Authority (PKA) to build a mammoth new port on 100 sq km of Carey Island with an eventual annual capacity of 30 million TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) that would be linked to the impending East Coast Rail Line (ECRL).
