MAS has achieved credibility over 45 years: Tharman
CREDIBILITY - that is what the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has achieved in its 45 years of existence, said Deputy Prime Minister and MAS chairman Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Tuesday.
With its sound management of financial crises - such as the Asian financial crisis and the global financial crisis - Singapore has come to be regarded as one of the safest financial centres in the world, added Mr Tharman, who is also Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies.
Mr Tharman was speaking at the launch of MAS's new permanent exhibition, that details the organisation's role in Singapore's economy and financial sector.
The 480-square-metre gallery is on level one of MAS Building; admission is free and self-guided.
