No regrets raising rates in December: Yellen
US economy had made very substantial progress, says Fed chief
New York
JANET Yellen, the Federal Reserve chairwoman, said that she did not regret the decision to start raising interest rates in December. "I certainly don't regard it as a mistake," Dr Yellen said on Thursday. "I said at the time and continue to feel that the economy had made very substantial progress."
The Fed has put off further increases, but Dr Yellen said that it remained on a "reasonable path" towards higher rates as economic growth continues.
