Opposition parties urge Abe's wife to testify in Parliament over school issue

But the controlling Liberal Democratic Party is resisting the demand

Mr Kagoike said under oath in Parliament on Thursday that in September 2015, Mrs Abe handed him an envelope containing one million yen (S$12,600) as a "donation" from her husband when she made a speech at Moritomo Gakuen kindergarten.


JAPAN'S "Abegate" affair, linking Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie with murky events surrounding an Osaka school, showed little sign of abating on Friday as political opposition parties demanded that Mrs Abe testify before Parliament on her alleged role in the affair.
