Police shoot dead gunman who opened fire at German cinema complex

A GUNMAN opened fire in a cinema complex in the small western German town of Viernheim, near Frankfurt, on Thursday, German media reported.
Police shot the man dead after elite forces stormed the complex, the Mannheimer Morgen newspaper reported, citing the interior minister of Hesse state.
German police confirmed the suspect's shooting during a televised statement, adding that no one was injured by the man during the incident.
