SG Budget 2017: More than S$80m for digital, data programmes
THE government will spend more than S$80 million for programmes to help SMEs to go digital, and to boost Singapore's capabilities in data and cybersecurity, Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said on Monday.
It will introduce an SMEs Go Digital Programme, with which SMEs will get advice on the technologies to use at each stage of their growth. Work will begin with sectors where digital technology can significantly improve productivity, such as retail and food services. At SMEs Centres, SMEs can get advice on off-the-shelf technology solutions that are pre-approved for funding support.
Singapore will also boost its capabilities in data and cybersecurity. The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore will work with professional bodies to train cybersecurity professionals.
