SG Budget 2017: New volumetric diesel duty to be introduced today
Lee U-Wen
A special tax on diesel cars and taxis in Singapore will be permanently reduced by S$100 and S$850 respectively with immediate effect, said Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat in parliament on Monday.
A volumetric diesel duty will be introduced to incentivise reduced diesel consumption.
To help businesses adjust, commercial diesel vehicles will be provided a 100 per cent road tax rebate for one year, and a partial road tax rebate for another two years.
Additional cash rebates will be provided to diesel buses ferrying school children.
