Singapore appoints career diplomat as new ambassador to the Philippines
Singapore has appointed Kok Li Peng as its ambassador to the Philippines, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday. Ms Kok will assume post on March 30, 2015.
Singapore's former ambassador to the Philippines, V. P. Hirubalan, has been appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of Asean for Asean Political-Security Community (DSG-APSC), succeeding Nyan Lynn from Myanmar.
Ms Kok joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. She served as Director-General (ASEAN) from March 2012 to January 2015 and as Deputy Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the United Nations in New York from September 2008 to January 2012.
Ms Kok graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 1994. She obtained a Masters in Arts (Political Science) from Columbia University in 2006 on a Fulbright Scholarship. Ms Kok was also awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2008.
