Easier access to justice and law firms' expansion a focus: Law Minister

THE government will continue refining the justice system to give the common man access to it and to protect families, said Law Minister K Shanmugam, who also outlined ways to help law firms expand regionally during the Committee of Supply debate on his ministry.
In what he said was a significant shift in philosophy, the government will now play a bigger role in criminal legal aid by providing funding to the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) administered by the Law Society of Singapore, so it can help more litigants.
