Budget 2016: Foreign worker levy to go up for services, construction sectors; deferred for marine sector
Levy increases for the hiring of foreign workers in the services and construction segments will proceed, said Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Finance. This will affect work permit holders in the services and construction segment. There will also be levy increases for S Pass holders in every sector.
"This is in view that the foreign workforce has continued to grow in these areas over the past year," said Mr Heng.
For the marine and processing sector, the Ministry of Finance will defer levy increases for work permit holders for one year. Manufacturing work permit levies will remain unchanged for another year.
