Replacing Causeway won't solve congestion issues: Vivian

THE Causeway that links Singapore and Malaysia has "sufficient capacity" and replacing it will not solve the congestion problems, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan told Parliament on Thursday.
Speaking during the debate on his ministry's spending plans for the new financial year, he told the House that both governments are working to improve the border congestion.
"We have conducted a joint study and we have also done our own projections," he said in response to queries from Nee Soon GRC Member of Parliament Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, who asked about Singapore's relations with Malaysia and Indonesia.
