South Korea official says will monitor exports to Japan, China on fx volatility
[SEOUL] A South Korean trade ministry official said on Thursday the government will monitor shipments to Japan and China as a burst of volatility in the currency market continues to reduce the value of the won.
Vice-trade minister Woo Tae Hee said the South Korea's trade with its bigger neighbours requires "persistent monitoring" due to market volatility seen since Donald Trump's election to US president.
The won is trading at its near five-month low of 1,183.2 against the US dollar as of 0124 GMT.
