Surbana, Jurong International named master planners for new capital of Indian state
Surbana International Consultants and Jurong International have been appointed the master planners for the new master city that will be built in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The announcement was made on Monday by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Trade and Industry Minister S Iswaran - currently in India for a four-day visit - and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
This landmark project will be the first large-scale international collaboration between Surbana and Jurong International, both of which have extensive experience in India having already completed more than 20 projects there to date.
With over 7,000 sq km of land use for the Andhra Pradesh capital region, the urbanisation is projected to impact a population of 49.4 million.
"The economic benefits from the master plan are far-reaching, not only for Andhra Pradesh but also for Singapore and the international business community," said International Enterprise Singapore CEO Teo Eng Cheong.
"As the new capital region develops, we envisage opportunities for more Singapore companies to participate in Andhra Pradesh's growth, particularly in the urban solutions, ICT and industrial infrastructure sectors."
