Thailand plans extra US$5.3b spending for 2017 fiscal year

[BANGKOK] Thailand's military government plans to spend an extra US$5.33 billion in the current fiscal year started in October on investment projects in the provinces, the head of the said on Wednesday.

The new spending will mainly be financed by savings bond issues, Budget Bureau Director-General Somsak Chotrattanasiri told reporters.

Thailand's budget deficit will increase to 580 billion baht(S$23.1 billion) from 390 billion baht for the fiscal year.
