Trump's trade man triggering tremors in China

His pick for trade representative has spoken of targeting imports from China, while easing US exporters' tax burden

China sells US$4 of goods to the US for each US$1 of imports. The mismatch has meant a bilateral trade surplus for China equal to 3 per cent of its economy.


AS A top trade official, he limited the Japanese cars and steel coming into the United States. He halted talks with China on a deal that would encourage investment between the two countries. And he tried to give US exporters an edge with special tax breaks.
