Singapore
CONCERNED about the employment situation in Singapore, 11 lawmakers have tabled questions for Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say to answer at the next parliament sitting, on Monday.
The recent labour market report for the second quarter showed that the overall unemployment rate rose from 1.9 per cent in March to 2.1 per cent in June. There is also a lower rate of re-entry into the workforce, while the number of unemployed people is more than the total job vacancies for the first time since June 2012.
