Xi to consolidate power at Party Congress
No major change in policies expected as Communist Party prepares to meet on Oct 18

CHINESE President Xi Jinping is expected to consolidate his power during the 19th Party Congress by appointing key posts, but there is unlikely to be a major shift in policies, analysts say.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will convene its 2,300 or so delegates in Beijing on Oct 18.
They will elect the members of a new Central Committee, a new Politburo and replace five of the seven members of the Standing Committee, in which will most likely be the successor to the current leadership. They will stay in function for the next five years.
