THE year has started off on a busy note in Asia's bond markets. This buzz continues from last year, where the Asia bond market recorded a landmark year in terms of issuances.
The Singapore dollar bond market in 2017 registered a high not seen since 2012 - S$25 billion worth of issuances, or some 30 per cent growth over 2016.
The strong performance was buoyed by issuances from regular issuers such as Housing Development Board, Mapletree, Frasers, Guocoland, and a handful of notable new foreign issuers including Huarong Finance.
