A grim view of urban planning
A new documentary looks at the work of Jane Jacobs
New York
IT IS increasingly rare for documentaries to be released in cinemas, no matter how good they might be. Yet Citizen Jane: Battle for the City, a new documentary about Jane Jacobs produced and directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Matt Tyrnauer, will be shown in close to 20 cities around the US.
The film has been screened in Europe and Canada, where it had a prime spot at Baconfest, which is described in press materials as "Calgary's favourite urban planning film festival".
