THE voices of three singers dressed in black slide from impossibly high notes down to gruff growls. Nearby is a reading room stocked with books, papers, magazines and television monitors broadcasting interviews with people discussing alien abduction and conspiracy theories. In yet another room, fur coats are stitched into the backs of chairs. Elsewhere, a small house has been assembled and filled with furniture, doorknobs, sinks and lampshades, all for sale.
"What is it?" a visitor asked as she peered inside the house. "An installation?" her companion offered.
