Bluesy ChildAid concert raises S$1.98m
Jazz pianist Monteiro, as music director, gives show a jazzy edge
Singapore
SAXOPHONIST CC Lee, all of 12 years old, and double bassist John Koh, 18, wowed the audience at the ChildAid 2015 charity concert on Friday night, as they took on classic jazz numbers with the "King of Swing" himself, Jeremy Monteiro. The boys hit their notes with poise and precision, belying their fresh-faced youth, drawing whoops and cheers from an appreciative audience.
By the end of the night, the concert had raised S$1.98 million for its two children's charities, The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. This brings the total sum raised for both funds to about S$12 million since the annual concert series began in 2005.
