EVENTS on and off the field over the past couple of years have cast a long shadow over the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).

The national team's results have been disappointing, the much-heralded professional S League has slumped to the pits, and the performances at the South-east Asian (SEA) Games and Suzuki Cup are best forgotten due to the abysmal early exits.
