One pirouette on stage, a giant leap for women in ballet
Ballet choreography, once dominated by men, is seeing more women helming works

MOST ballerinas spend their entire careers performing in ballets created by men and in companies run by men. So it's good to see some ballerinas upstaging that convention a bit.
Ashley Bouder, a brilliant virtuoso ballerina at New York City Ballet, is one such. On Saturday, the Ashley Bouder Project performed a couple of ballets at Symphony Space, in a triple bill, At This Dance, Women Take the Lead. Five main points were evident.
