Panel proposes Bay East Garden as site for Founders' Memorial
It suggests target opening date of 2025 to coincide with 60th year of Singapore's independence
Singapore
THE Founders' Memorial Committee has proposed that Bay East Garden be the site of a tribute to Singapore's founding leaders - and that the memorial be opened to the public by 2025, in time to celebrate Singapore's 60th year of independence.
The submission by the committee came after the 15-member found more public support for locating the memorial at Bay East Garden than at Fort Canning Park, because Bay East Garden's "park setting and proximity to water is a good reflection of Singapore's status as a Garden City".
