SCHOOL and work took a back seat for a few hours on Thursday as thousands of people lined the streets from Marine Parade to Bras Basah Road for a chance to catch national swimmer Joseph Schooling in the flesh before he heads back to the United States on Friday.
The 21-year-old Olympic gold medallist, together with parents Colin and May and top sports officials, rode a red open-top bus for more than three hours.
