Two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Andre to close next year
TWO-Michelin-Starred Restaurant Andre will close its doors after a last service on Feb 14 next year, said its Taiwan-born chef Andre Chiang in an email announcement early Wednesday morning.
He also wishes to "return" his Michelin stars, and "requested" not to be included in next year's guide - making his the first restaurant in Singapore to do so.
The decision came after the restaurant's seventh anniversary on Tuesday, where chef Chiang felt his restaurant had become "everything I hoped for". Restaurant Andre is also No 14 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and ranked second on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list.
In his announcement, chef Chiang also said that he will return to Taiwan, where his other restaurant RAW is located, and has plans for future projects in 2018 and 2019.
"After 30 years of a professional culinary career, returning to where I was born 40 years ago has always been my dream, passing on everything I have to the next generation in Taiwan and China is my duty," he said.
