STROLL along the waterfront of Marina Bay Sands and you suddenly find yourself standing in a field of some 250,000 golden wheat stalks. The large art installation by French artist Gad Weil is erected in collaboration with fashion house Chanel whose high jewellery collection Les Blés de Chanel is inspired by the wheat's shape and form.
The wheat has been flown over from Spain, and it took a team of 100 people over months to first preserve and finally hand-press the stalks one by one into the soil.
