Rio pledges to protect Olympics from Zika mosquitoes

RIO vowed on Sunday to protect Olympic athletes and fans from Zika-carrying mosquitoes, which have been blamed for causing horrific birth defects.
The first city in South America to host the Games promised to attack breeding sites and to shield visitors from the virus, the dramatic spread of which comes six months from the opening ceremony and is threatening to trigger panic.
