FOR anyone familiar with Greek mythology, the name Medea is often spoken with trepidation.
No woman in classical literature is more feared than the powerful sorceress who helped her husband Jason win the Golden Fleece. But when Jason becomes one of the most powerful men in Greece, he betrays Medea by leaving her to marry the daughter of King Creon.
Medea takes revenge in the most spectacular fashion: First, she paints poison on the robe that the new bride is going to wear. When the bride crumbles from the poison, King Creon rushes to hold his dying daughter, only to be poisoned to death, too.
