Another delightful opera evening in store
THE ever-popular Singapore Lyric Opera's Opera in the Park is back for its seventh year, with an attractive line-up of singers and classics that include excerpts from Bizet's Carmen, Lehar's The Merry Widow, Puccini's Tosca and Wagner's Tannhauser.
The event has seen a surge in attendance since its inception in 2008 when it played to 4,000 people; last year, it was 20,000. This year, the organisers are hoping for even more to enjoy the evening at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Both familiar and new faces feature in the cast this time. Singaporean conductor Joshua Tan is back, and so are Singapore-born soprano Cherylene Liew and baritone William Lim.
