A new retelling of what war does to the human spirit
Two upcoming plays explore the grim realities and consequences of war.
THEATRE director Oliver Chong has seen five of the six productions of Kuo Pao Kun's The Spirits Play in Singapore, mounted by different theatre companies; he saw the first production when he was just 21.
Now 38 and the resident director with The Finger Players, he is directing it. He recalled being blown away when he saw Taiwan director Stan Lai's direction of the play in 1998, followed by Kuo Pao Kun's version that same year.
"I was very young then, and I loved the play very much," he said.
