OPERA Opera In The Park by Singapore Lyric Opera
OPERA lovers' favourite annual outdoor event returns on Saturday with an unusual theme - "opera in movies". Highlights include Habanera from Bizet's Carmen that was featured in Superman Returns, Largo al Factotum from Rossini's The Barber of Seville that appeared in an episode of Tom & Jerry, and La donna è mobile from Verdi's Rigoletto that was played in an episode of Mickey Mouse. Never mind if you don't remember which episode of Mickey Mouse, or that Habanera was only incidentally playing on Lex Luthor's yacht in Superman Returns. The fact is, these songs are so well-loved they have appeared in countless shows.
