Dim Sum Dollies' hysterical history lesson
NOT sure how much of a true-blue Singaporean you still are these days? Just see how many jokes you can catch at The Dim Sum Dollies' restaging of The History of Singapore Part 1.
If 50 per cent of the time you are "blur like sotong" while other audience members are LOL-ing, then why aren't you at the SEA Games supporting the Team Singapore table tennis players instead; if you get at least 80 per cent - including the bits in dialect without having to ask the person sitting next to you to translate it - then you fully deserve to carry your Pink IC with pride. (And if you catch everything even with the jokes coming fast and furious at machine-gun pace, you should speak to someone from the troupe about being made an honorary Dolly.)
Such is the unique appeal of Dim Sum Dollies, comprising Selena Tan, who also wrote the show and lyrics, Pam Oei and Denise Tan, who replaced the late Emma Yong who died in 2012.
