THE Twenty-Something Theatre Festival is one of the best new theatre events to emerge this year. The brainchild of actress-producer Tan Kheng Hua, it provides a platform for playwrights and directors aged 20 to 29 to bring their stories to a wider audience.
Sponsored by the National Arts Council, the two-week festival started last week and, judging from the early offerings alone, the voices of the millennial generation are certainly worth listening to, reminding us of their promise and potential.
Of the four plays presented last week, this reviewer was only able to catch three. The first was Long Weekend written by Kenneth Chia. It centres on a young gay man (Terry Tan) whose friend's (Juni Goh) death sets off a chain of memories both real and re-imagined.
