German giants set on goal
Borussia Dortmund are out to win the hearts of Asian football fans
ONE year into establishing their first ever foreign representative office outside of Germany here - led by a Singaporean, no less - German football club Borussia Dortmund's goal has become clear: to expand their fanbase in football-mad Asia.
To do that, the eight-time Bundesliga champions flew its star-studded squad here on Wednesday as part of its week-long pre-season tour to meet and connect with fans.
Singapore is the second of three stops, after Japan and before Malaysia. It thrashed J-League club Kawasaki Frontale 6-0 in a friendly on Tuesday and played Johor Darul Tazim across the causeway at Larkin Stadium on Thursday night.
