It's a nice change to see that not every love story on the silver screen necessarily comes with a happy ending.

Which is why things feel a little more realistic and sincere in The Last Five Years, director Richard LaGravense's (The Fisher King, Beautiful Creatures) indie adaptation of Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown's (The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas) acclaimed off-Broadway musical of the same name.

Incidentally, it was most recently staged here in 2014 by theatre group, Dream Academy, as part of its annual multi-disciplinary arts fest, The Henderson Project.
