Nothing new about retro teen movie
SAPPY Taiwanese idol drama crosses over to the big screen in Our Times, a nostalgic coming-of-age high school rom-com that has become a surprise domestic box-office smash.
Given the sizeable market for the genre, it's no wonder the film has grossed NT$400 million (S$17.1 million), and counting, at home.
Die-hard romantics and 15-year-old girls will love it for obvious reasons (the good-looking cast, the love triangles, the fairy-tale ending, just to name a few), but if you don't fall into either demographic, prepare to be overwhelmed by the saccharine storyline.
