WILD Rice's Public Enemy is as politically-charged as it sets out to be, with its dramatised behind-the-scenes look of what can happen when one man goes against the system, with the play transcending black and white interpretations of right and wrong.

As its stunning set design and costumes in many shades of grey allude to, the play's strongest message is that the political arena is one big grey one.

Based on David Harrower's contemporary adaptation of Ibsen's original, An Enemy of the People, the work has been localised by director Glen Goei to fit into a Singapore context. Characters have been renamed, with thinly-veiled links to real-life politicians and "dissidents".
