Exploring new ideas and techniques
THE works of artists Baet Yeok Kuan and Chng Nai Wee may not follow a discernible theme, but a closer look shows the two of them exploring new possibilities in the medium of painting.
The duo's last joint exhibition was in 2004. This time, their exhibition Juxtaposition plays on personal themes. Art lecturer Baet's works are inspired by favourite childhood objects while ophthalmologist Chng's mixed media paintings see him exploring the human body from a scientific point of view.
"I'm comfortable with this joint exhibition because both of us come from the same era, so I think we share similar ways of seeing things," says Baet, 55.
