Perfect Step
Avant garde dance company Dumb Type made a splash at the 2002 Singapore Arts Festival, but it has taken some 17 years for them to return. This time, they're literally making a splash at the Singapore International Festival of Arts with ST/LL, a performance-installation performed on a sheet of water.
The company's co-founder Shiro Takatani makes extraordinary use of multimedia to explore the dynamics of silence, stillness and still photographs, against which beautiful dancers twist and twirl. With an ambient score by the legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto, this is a must-see for lovers of contemporary dance and theatre.
ST/LL byy Shiro Takatani/Dumb Type (Japan) will be performed from May 24 to 25 at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets from Sistic.
