How much do you love your parents? And how will that love be tested should one of them be struck by dementia? More soberingly, what if you're the one struck with the debilitating brain disorder? The brilliance of Florian Zeller's play The Father, produced by Pangdemonium, is that it appears to tell a story from different perspectives. There's the father who understands one version of events. But there's also his daughter and her husband who appear to be telling other versions altogether. Nothing becomes clear until the end, when you're struck by how brutally truthful and moving the drama is. Directed by Tracie Pang, the stellar cast includes Lim Kay Siu, Tan Kheng Hua and Janice Koh.
The Father opens next Friday, March 2, and runs till March 18 at the Victoria Theatre. Tickets from Sistic.
